Oslo Jazz Festival 15th - 20th August 2011
The Oslo Jazz Festival 2010 is history, and we would like to thank the audience, musicians, our volunteers, guests, the media and our sponsors for a wonderful festival.
We hope you will join us for our 25th anniversary festival next year: 15th - 20th August 2011. Please see visitOSLO for information about how to get to Oslo and where to stay while you are visiting.
Youth and traditions
This year's Young Star Scholarship goes to trombonist and band leader Kristoffer Kompen.
Artist, showman and harmonica pinoeer: The 88-year old Toots Thielemans and his quartet gave the audience no reason to complain when they opened the Oslo Jazz Festival Monday 16th August. The standing ovations were many and the reviews of the concert were overwhelming.
The leading Norwegian bass player, band leader and composer Arild Andersen, age 64, was honoured with the Ella prize Monday evening, at the opening of the 25th Oslo Jazz Festival. The prize is given by the festival as a recognition of his impact on, and efforts towards, developing the jazz scene in Oslo.
Once again it is a great pleasure to offer a comprehensive festival program with many highlights. As always we are looking forward to presenting everything from the traditional to the experimental, from the unpredictable to the more conventional.
Tickets for the Oslo Jazz Festival's concert with Toots Thielemans Quartet in the Norwegian National Opera & Ballet have been in great demand, and the concert has been sold out for quite some time.
But now the Norwegian National Opera & Ballet have made a few more tickets available, and it is therefore again possible to buy tickets for this concert.
See www.operaen.no or call +47 21 42 21 21 to buy tickets.
This year's international line-up is complete
With the Cassandra Wilson and Archie Shepp now confirmed for this year's festival, the international line-up is complete.
Stageway and the Oslo Jazz Festival are proud to announce a pre-festival concert with American rising superstar Melody Gardot.
Once again the Oslo Jazz Festival will be jumping the gun on the festival’s official opening. This year the pre-festival concert takes place on 30th July when Melody Gardot will be playing an outdoor concert in the grounds Oslo’s beautiful medieval castle Akershus festning.

Lise Gulbransen recommends Ketil Bjørnstad's Remembrance
Together with Tore Brunborg and Jon Christensen, Ketil Bjørnstad has made an irresistibly evocative album. These three musicians suit each other. Brunborg and Bjørnstad communicate beautiful melodies in perfect interaction while Christensen's cymbals colour the landscape. Remembrance is a recording which has room for reflection and is without a doubt a new highlight in Ketil Bjørnstad's impressive discography.
